Season
Very early variety, harvest starting 2 days before Alba in Northern
Italy.
Fruit Quality
Very large fruit, very attractive, glossy orange-red in colour,
uniform long conical shaped. Long shelf-life. Fruit is well
displayed and easy to pick.
Plant Characteristics
Plants are vigorous and a slightly wider spacing combined with less
nitrogen in the feed mixture is recommended, especially when planted
on sterilized land or under protection. In trials in Italy, Anitabis
has shown a tendency for repeat flowering when cold stored plants
are grown under polythene tunnels, but this is more apparent with
fresh/potted plants and in the south of the country.
Disease Resistance
Anitabis is tolerant to most common root diseases and grows well in
non-sterilized soil. Moderately tolerant to mildew (Oidium fragariae)
and has a low susceptibility to Colletotrichum acutatum.
Marketing Suitability
Easy to pick, high productivity, very attractive fruit, very large
fruit size until the end of picking.
Use of the Variety
Anitabis grows well in a wide range of growing conditions and is
suitable for production using cold stored, fresh and plug plants.
