Parentage / Origin
Kwanza (formerly selection 62) was bred by Advanced Berry
Breeding in the Netherlands.
Season
The harvest season in the autumn is approximately 10 days later
Polka.
Plant Characteristics
Kwanza has a compact upright growth habit with large leaves and
few basal shoots. The canes have very few spines.
Fruiting Characteristics
The fruit of Kwanza is very large (averaging >6 grams in early
trials) and easy to harvest, being very visible for the pickers. The
berries are light orange-red in colour and do not darken after
harvest. The flavour is excellent.
Pest & Disease Resistance
To date Kwanza has had no significant problems with pests and
diseases.
Potential Uses
An exciting new primocane raspberry with excellent yields for
autumn cropping. Kwanza produces fruit of superb size, quality,
flavour and shelf life.
